Synopsis
In the summer of 2017 I began to produce a series of works entitled "WALLS". I started by walking around randomly in the streets of Oaxaca, Mexico. In the summer of 2018 I continued this series in Venice, Italy. While walking I filmed the walls I passed by without looking and separately recorded the sounds of the city. Months later I edited the video-material and created a 20 minute art-video without sound. Out of the field-recordings I composed a radio-art-piece: "Wallside #Venice". It is pure ARS ACUSTICA that does not tell a story nor it is descriptive sound-scape. It follows only musical rules. An electronically treated (sampled, filtered) saxophone (special guest: Ulrich Krieger) and excerpts from tango-sessions in public places are part of the acoustic material as well as seagulls and creaking floating vaporetto-stops. This composition is not a sound-walk but a picture, a canvas I painted with the sounds of the streets and canals of Venice, sounds coming from courtyards, around corners, behind walls, squares, boats, bars, etc. There is obviously no text, and no script needed.
