Welcome by our Hosts The importance and place of Radio Drama at Radio România - Atila Vizauer (Radio România) 10.30 Introduction to the Workshop – Overview of the Day Alison Hindell, Chair of the EBU Radio Drama Group (BBC/United Kingdom) 10.45 Keynote by multi-award-winning writer and director John Dryden (United Kingdom) 11.50 New trends and new forms " Interactive, playful, immersive: New forms of digital storytelling " – Sandra Kaupmann ARD-SWR (Germany) Virtual reality, location-based storytelling, chat bots, virtual assistants – technical innovations are expanding the options for storytelling in a highly dynamic way. Let’s go for a ride through new ways to tell our stories in a digital world. 12.20 BBC-NRK co-production - tba 14.00 “Blurring the boundaries” “Surviving Ireland”, an RTÉ “mockumentary” – Liam O’Brien (RTÉ/Ireland) A unique collaboration between RTÉ radio comedy and Documentary On One - where the comedy writers in question wanted to 'use' all the structures and possibilities of long form radio docs and to bring those to radio comedy. Fake for real. Radio drama on the edge between fiction and reality in times of post-truth – Walter Filz (ARD-SWR/Germany) Once upon a time, fake was just a funny game. Films, theatre and radio drama loved to play in the broad field between fiction and reality. It worked because most people knew the difference and agreed on what was true or not. But in the last few years, things have changed radically. The broad field became a small edge. We're living in the age of post-truth. Nothing and nobody seem to be reliable. Everyone calls everything fake news. Misinformation, hoaxes, propaganda and false content seem to be everywhere. Since it is so unclear about what is truth and what is not, what about working and playing with the possibilities offered by mixing reality and fiction? (Remember: the first and still most popular radio drama was a fake news play, War of the Worlds.) 15.00 Is Podcasting the new Eldorado? Tim Hinman (Third Ear/Denmark) - tbc General discussion 16.00 The floor is yours – Roundtable Interesting projects and initiatives |
